Overview

The School of Education Adjunct Faculty – Dissertation Advisor, under the supervision of the School Director, is responsible for guiding students through their dissertation journey. Dissertation Advisors (Chairs) are to be experienced in the end-to-end dissertation development process. Dissertation Advisors need to be knowledgeable in all aspects of dissertation milestones for a five-chapter manuscript, including scholarly development of the Prospectus, Proposal, and final Manuscript. This is a non-exempt position paid through course instruction.

Responsibilities

• Provide dissertation student instruction in assigned dissertation capstone courses.
• Guide dissertation students through each dissertation milestone deliverable ensuring compliance to template and rubric criteria.
• Be available to meet with students through phone, Zoom, or other sources to assist them in scholarly completion of dissertation milestone documents.
• Participate in virtual review sessions with students during summer intensive sessions.
• Review and provide formative and summative feedback to students weekly on dissertation milestone deliverables.
• Prepare and support students for proposal and manuscript oral defenses.
• Counsel and advise dissertation students through committee member (subject matter expert and second committee member) feedback to meet University dissertation requirements.
• Participate in faculty directed activities integral to the university system.
• Meet with the Director of School of Education on student milestone completion progress and report issues, concerns, and successes ensuring student dissertation work complies with University standards.
• Participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the curriculum that conforms with the Program's mission, goals, and objectives.
