Location : Hempstead, NY 11550

Hourly rate range : up to $75 per hour

About the Job

Our partner school, a K–12 charter institution located in Hempstead, NY 11550, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Director of Facilities to oversee the maintenance and operational integrity of six school buildings. This is a full-time, on-site, permanent position .

The Director of Facilities will be responsible for managing all aspects of facility maintenance, including staff supervision, preventative maintenance, repair coordination, vendor management, and ensuring full compliance with health, safety, and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee daily operations and maintenance of six school facilities

Lead and supervise the facilities and maintenance staff

Plan and implement preventative maintenance schedules

Coordinate repairs and maintenance services with internal teams and external vendors

Ensure compliance with all relevant safety, health, and building codes

Manage HVAC systems, Building Management Systems (BMS), and other technical infrastructure

Monitor and manage facilities budgets and supply inventories

Respond to facility-related emergencies in a timely manner

Support school operations by ensuring a safe, clean, and functional environment for students and staff

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required

Strong leadership and management skills

Proven experience in facility and maintenance management

Proficiency in general maintenance and repair practices

Experience with HVAC systems and BMS (Building Management Systems)

Strong computer and organizational skills

Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities

Ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities

Relevant certifications in facilities or maintenance management preferred

Experience in an educational or school setting is a plus

Compensation

Full-time schedule, typically 37.5 hours per week
