Job Summary

The Produce Lead will be responsible for modeling and promoting Sendik's culture by consistently providing "best in class" service to our guests. The main responsibility of the Produce Lead is to oversee production, associates, customer satisfaction and standards for the Produce Department, in the absence of the Produce Manager. As a part of the Sendik's leadership team, the Produce Lead must demonstrate accountability, strong team management skills and hands-on involvement, both on the floor and with the team.

Duties / Responsibilities

• Serve customers in the Produce Department while modeling Sendik's culture and providing "best in class" customer service, which includes, greeting, engaging, delighting and thanking every guest for their business
• Provide consistent, timely and friendly customer service when answering questions, making suggestions and resolving complaints
• Manage all areas of the Produce Department, consistently leading by example and applying effective management techniques
• Ensure that the Produce Department is always full and fresh with the best quality produce
• Oversee weekly production schedule for fresh and packaged produce
• Maintain department conditions, ensuring shelves are stocked, product is rotated and the department is clean and well organized
• Maintain and update weekly reports (purchasing, sanitation and inventory)
• Order inventory based on reports (shrink, overage, expired, etc.)
• Control shrink by re-purposing of product
• Oversee, manage and train associates; including, but not limited to coaching, performance improvement, recognition, 1 : 1 meetings and feedback
• Assist with unloading, stocking and rotating daily produce deliveries
• Create attractive Produce Department displays and end caps based on specific weekly sales and merchandising plans
• Communicate with Produce Manager in regards to department conditions, associate relations, department hiring needs, associate accidents and other concerns as needed
• Participate in additional training and leadership activities as directed
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering to safety / sanitation regulations and procedures
• Operate, maintain and clean produce equipment including knives, juicers, coolers and slicers
• Assist with all other Produce Department duties as needed
