Senior Civil Engineer

to support our Transportation Team!

This position can sit out of Nashville, Brentwood, or Knoxville, TN

This Opportunity

The candidate would lead project tasks or assist project managers with project coordination and collaboration efforts for various transportation engineering projects in both the public and private sectors. Tasks may include assistance with the research, conceptual development, design, and constructability of roads, drainage systems, ITS, and bridges. Other tasks may include generating accurate and concise training and workflow documentation regarding standardized design software and specifications. This position is best suited for a senior-level career transportation engineer who is seeking an opportunity to be a part of a growing organization that works collaboratively to provide innovative solutions for our clients with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards for design, safety, and functionality.

Your Impact

• Perform professional civil engineering work which includes development of 3D design models, calculations, sketches, plans, and estimates for various transportation improvement projects, including new / widened roadways, intersection improvements, bike and pedestrian facilities.
• Analyze data from surveys, GIS data, subsurface utility information, maps, geotechnical data, and other matrices for project development, design, and construction.
• Assist with the development of technologies, modeling techniques, design requirements, and operating strategies to account for the safety and functionality of end-users, transportation vehicles / systems, and incorporate future-ready solutions with civil engineering design standards.
• Verify the characteristics of a site and provide technical assistance on various engineering, design, and construction issues.
• Maintain quality control standards and procedures that align with company policy.
• Contribute to the preparation of technical reports and presentations, that include summarizing research with findings and conclusions, generating complete, accurate, and concise documentation using calculations, electronic systems, spreadsheets, and software.
• Assist technical staff with writing / reviewing design training manuals and workflow documentation to further advance the engineering industry.
• Assist technical staff and project managers with risk identification and assessment, offering input and analysis with design concepts, construction, mitigation and improvement activities, and remediation projects.
• Assist with inspections of proposed and existing site conditions, resources, infrastructure, and transportation channels to determine conformance with applicable rules, standards, and construction or operating permits.
• Assist with preparation of technical proposals, scoping, and labor estimates.
• Work collaboratively as part of a multi-discipline team of engineers to execute project work on various projects.
• Work collaboratively with other engineers and planners on projects with infrastructure authorities on Federal, State, regional, and locally funded improvement and development projects.
• Interface with clients as needed and support business development initiatives.
• Regularly coordinate and communicate with project teams, manager, and civil team. Attend and participate in project team meetings.
• Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
• Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
