The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County is seeking an IT Consultant for our Digital Strategies department. The IT Consultant works closely with the Chief Information Officer to oversee the infrastructure, help desk, network and cyber security functionsat the Natural History Museum. It is an exciting time as we embark on new journeys of becoming a museum of, for, and with L.A.

Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to :

Works closely with the department leadership to develop and sustain a positive, engaging and inclusive department work environment.

Align the IT infrastructure with the current and future technological business requirements and goals of the Museum. Prioritize, lead and / or oversee project execution to work within Museum constraints to deliver on those priorities.

Assist the Director, Digital Strategies with researching and forecasting technology requirements, identifying trends to determine their impact on the enterprise, setting technology standards, policies and procedures, improving effectiveness and efficiencies of installed systems, developing training programs for staff in order to enhance users’ proficiency in the use of technology resources, working with vendors, administration of technology platforms, and implementing enterprise IT projects.

Work closely with and support various business groups and clients within the business functions to understand the problems, improve collaboration and seek opportunities to drive technology platforms and solutions across the NHMLAC institution.

Manage the budget for Information Technology by participating in the budget planning process and tracking expenses as they are incurred.

Oversee and administer the Museum’s productivity and collaboration suites, including email, calendars, file shares, chat, video conferencing and the phone system.

This position has the following requirements :

Bachelor’s degree in technology or related field. Advanced degree preferred.

5+ years in a management / supervisory role.

Strong business, resources and project planning experience.

Ability to recommend new applications as requested to streamline business processes and improve workflow.

Ability to negotiate and execute technology contracts.

Experience implementing technology “best practices” for a hybrid working environment.

The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County is seeking applicants who have demonstrated experience and commitment working with a diverse community. Salary range for this position is $126,078.24 - $128,789.60 based on experience plus excellent benefits. NHMLAC, in good faith, believes that this posted rate of compensation is the accurate range for this role at this location at the time of this posting. This range may be modified in the future. Actual compensation within that range will be dependent upon the individual’s relevant skills, experience, qualifications, and applicable laws. This is a full time temporary exempt position.
