Licensed Psychiatrist

Experience working with an acute and chronic adult inpatient population is required, and forensic population.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to :

•  Responsible for patient care that includes examination, evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of medical illnesses for adult and geriatric psychiatric inpatient population.  Serves as medical consultant to the attending psychiatrist / practitioner.  Completes admission medical assessments (including history and physical examinations, mental status examination) and entering admission orders.  Orders diagnostic / therapeutic tests and procedures.  Monitors patients' progress, including laboratory values and special procedures with appropriate follow-up or referrals as needed.  Consults with authorized representatives / legal guardians on patient medical status.  Collaborates with attending psychiatric practitioner if needed providing DSM-5 Diagnoses that are valid, complete, and supported by timely and appropriate assessment.  Provides coverage to the medical clinic, the admission suit to ensure the admission process is completed.  Prescribes medications at the lowest effective dose in accordance with rational clinical practices.

Assesses and address medication side-effects and report adverse drug reactions.  Ensures timely and quality documentation (admissions, follow-up and annual, etc.) in patient records in accordance with policies, procedures, regulatory standards, and guidelines.
