Job descriptionParticipates in maintaining program compliance with TBON and other governing agencies. Assists students in learning by formulating course outlines, preparing lesson plans, devising theoretical evaluation tools, correcting and evaluating. Utilizes a variety of teaching and learning aids including computer technology (SIMS, Computer Presentations), guest lectures, tours, observational experiences, community resources, and research assignments. Recognizes students as adult learners, treating all equally and fairly, maintaining a friendly and professional atmosphere in the classroom. Formulates clinical objectives and plans appropriate clinical experience. Assists students in interpreting the prescribed therapeutic regimes for patients; keeps adequate anecdotal records; prepares clinical evaluations. Conducts individual evaluation sessions; conducts clinical conferences and / or assists students in conducting conferences. Participates in the formulation and implementation of the philosophy and objectives of the program. Participates in the evaluation of program policies, clinical objectives and experiences, and curriculum. Acts as a liaison between affiliating agencies and the school; facilitates a positive relationship with our clinical facilities and their staff; interprets affiliating agency policies for students. Works in coordination with the Nursing Department for the betterment of patient care and provides adequate supervision of students during clinical experiences. Maintains classroom and lab equipment and tools, repairing and replacing as needed. Shows a positive attitude toward Kilgore College, its students, staff, and varied instructors. Maintains appropriate office hours and clinical hours and is accessible for guidance and counseling of students with learning needs, demonstrating concern for student progress. Participates in Continuing Education and Faculty / Professional Development programs. Assists in the orientation of new faculty and recruitment of applicants as needed. Maintains proof of licensure, proof of TBON CE requirements, annual immunizations and CPR c ertification. Participates in departmental / faculty meetings to review and evaluate program curriculum and student issues. Communicate with the Program Director, reporting all issues of concern and safety. Current Texas License to practice as a registered nurse. Minimum of an Associate’s Degree in nursing, Bachelor’s degree preferred. Minimum of 3 years varied nursing experience within the last 5 years Show evidence of teaching abilities and maintain current knowledge, clinical expertise, and safety in subject areas of teaching responsibility. 0 Full-Time Direct Reports 0 Part-Time Direct Reports Physical Demands and Work Environment : Work is normally performed in a typical interior / office work environment. No or very limited physical effort required; however, the employee must occasionally lift and / or move up to 15 pounds. No or very limited exposure to physical risk. Strong critical thinking and communication skills, as well as the ability to work independently while developing strong collaborative relationships with colleagues, students, student services, and academic services units. The individual must be able to exercise excellent professional judgment and discretion, making decisions on a regular basis that impact student welfare and the Health Science division. Individual must possess a commitment to student success, and strong interpersonal, advising, public speaking, and data management skills. Individual must also possess the ability to work as a member of a team and exercise exceptional organizational skills, independent judgement, initiative, and confidentiality. Willing to work within the philosophical framework of Kilgore College and the Health Science division. Student-oriented and able to meet deadlines. Keeps abreast of current trends in education and affiliated program requirements. Creates a climate conducive to student learning and peer relationships. Maintains professional relationships with peers, colleagues, and students. Provide resources for safe operation of units. 36-hour work week for a healthy work life balance as well generous paid leave time. Health, life, and income protection insurance are provided. An excellent retirement program through the Teacher Retirement System or Optional Retirement Plan ‘ORP’ for full time faculty. Full Time employees have free use of the college’s recreational / fitness facilities Full Time employees are eligible for the Public Student Loan Forgiveness (PLSF) after 10 years of service. Tuition scholarships are for the employee and dependents. Compensation for this 12-month position is based on years of teaching at institutions of higher education, and highest level of education. Base pay for no experience ranges from $56,069 for an associate's degree to $69,192 for a doctorate. Kilgore College does not participate in the federal Social Security program. All full-time positions are located in Kilgore, TX. No fully work from home positions are available at this time. All employees must be available to physically present to work on the Kilgore, TX or Longview, TX Campus. Some Part-Time and Adjunct positions may be offsite but the candidate MUST live in the State of Texas.
