Schnabel is looking for a Geotechnical Construction Laborer to assist with the building of specialty underground structures. We are a very busy nationwide specialty contractor, founded in 1959 in Washington DC. This position can grow vertically into several other skilled trades. Our top candidates show up every day, work hard, ask good questions, and want to advance their careers. You will be working closely with site leaders to maintain a safe job site and a productive environment where we complete our project on time and under budget.

As a general laborer you will operate hand and power tools of all types : air hammers, earth tampers, cement mixers, small mechanical hoists, surveying and measuring equipment, and a variety of other equipment and instruments.

Our typical scope of work includes installation of soldier piles, micropiles, lagging, walers, tiebacks, and braces for support of excavation projects. We also take on challenging projects with underpinning, grouting, tunneling, and unique structural support as part of our scope. Candidates who have direct construction experience and familiarity with our company’s traditional scope of work are preferred.

Requirements

• A minimum of 6 months of construction labor work experience or a certificate from a training program
• Underpinning experience (not required but preferred)
• Lagging experience (not required but preferred)
• Reliable transportation
• Ability to lift and carry 80 pounds of materials over rough terrain
• Pass pre-employment drug test
• High school diploma or GED
• Possess a valid driver's license or other accepted legal ID

Pay will be based on local union wage scales.
