Overview of Position
The Clinical Medical Assistant plays an essential role in our ambulatory care team, performing both clinical and administrative tasks under the supervision of healthcare providers. This includes assisting with patient exams, maintaining vital records, conducting tests, and supporting overall patient care. This position may require floating between different locations within our healthcare system.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the department's goals and adhere to all policies, procedures, and quality standards.
- Prepare patients for examinations, assist with minor procedures, and provide educational guidance.
- Participate in team meetings and coordinate patient visits while addressing care barriers and safety concerns.
- Conduct motivational interviews to support patients in managing their health conditions and needs.
- Report any issues regarding patient care and participate in quality improvement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with medication and equipment standards, maintaining a safe clinical environment.
- Engage with patients in setting health goals and supporting self-management through education.
- Perform clinical tests and procedures in accordance with practice guidelines and properly document all activities.
- Assist patients with discharge procedures and ensure they receive comprehensive support.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment, including equipment management and infection control.
- Provide telephone support to patients, directing their needs appropriately.
- Administer certain procedures under the direct supervision of a physician, including IV insertions and medication preparations.
- Utilize electronic medical records to manage patient information and medications.
- Be flexible to work at different locations as needed, maintaining consistency in care provided.
- Attend mandatory training sessions and meetings to stay updated on best practices and safety protocols.

Minimum Qualifications
Education :High School Diploma or GED required; completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.
Experience :At least 6 months of experience in an ambulatory care setting is required. An externship in such environments is strongly preferred. For Cardiology offices : 6 months of relevant experience or a degree in exercise physiology / science is preferred.
Certifications :Must obtain Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) certification within 1 year. CPR certification required within 90 days.
Skills and Abilities
Demonstrated clinical competency.Outstanding customer service and patient interaction skills.Basic computer proficiency is preferred.This position has a hiring range of : USD $19.55 - USD $34.25 / Hr.
