Responsibilities Work in an acute care hospital on a 35 to 42-bed MedSurg unit Patient population includes altered mental status, cardiac (no active CP), renal, cancer, overflow CVA, TBI, post-appendectomy, chest tubes, and wound care Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1 : 5-6 on both shifts Utilizes Epic EMR for all documentation Equipment includes remote telemetry monitoring, IV gtts (Heparin or Protonix only), Bipap, Cpap, and High Flow devices 3x12 hour shifts (7 : 00am-7 : 30pm), every other weekend, with holiday coverage as needed Floating required to any MedSurg unit except ED or Behavioral Health Floor-specific orientation includes 1-2 shifts with a preceptor Charge Nurse and PCT support are available 24 / 7 Responsibilities include caring for a diverse MedSurg population, performing basic wound and chest tube care, and working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team Scrub color is navy blue with navy or white jackets; undershirts must be navy or white; hair must be a natural color; excessive tattoos must be covered Hospitalist, pharmacy, and respiratory therapy support are available 24 / 7 Must work holidays as needed based on unit requirements First time travelers are eligible for consideration Block scheduling is available if included in contract EKG testing is not required for this MedSurg position Requirements Active WV or compact RN license required Current BLS certification (AHA) required; ACLS preferred Minimum 2 years of recent MedSurg nursing experience required Must have basic arrhythmia recognition knowledge Experience with Epic EMR preferred Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility (no local travelers) Must provide an unexpired driver’s license for consideration COVID-19 vaccination required; exemptions considered with approved documentation Candidates previously employed at any WVU Medicine location or as a traveler must have a 2-year break before reapplying Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-641011.
