Responsibilities and Duties
Provide comprehensive nursing care, including executing physicians orders, dispensing and administering medications, performing patient examinations and treatmentsOrder, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to identify and assess clinical problems and health care needsRecord physical findings, formulate prognoses, and collaborate with physicians and health professionals to develop comprehensive patient care plansRecommend drugs and other forms of treatment within licensure scopeMonitor inpatient hospitalizations and coordinate appropriate release timingMaintain cleanliness of equipment and work areaAssist with monitoring provision of all required contractual servicesFoster effective working relationships with facility staff, contract providers, and outside agenciesUtilize established corporate, facility, and correctional policies and procedures while exercising independent judgmentEvaluate medical services to prevent inappropriate use or duplicationEnsure security and confidentiality of medical records and verify documentation of services providedMonitor potential catastrophic illnesses and recommend interventionsSuggest methods to improve efficiency and cost-effectiveness of health servicesAudit pharmacy use and ensure compliance with applicable pharmacy lawsObserve and record inmate or resident behaviorAccept on-call status as requiredProvide health counseling and education individually or in groupsInterpret medical and technical procedures, governmental regulations, and process legal documents as neededReview and respond to lawsuits through corporate counsel and attend court hearings if necessaryParticipate in multi-disciplinary committee meetings to promote and monitor healthcare qualityEngage in secure functions, including working rotating shifts and verifying facility securityEvaluate and recommend safety requirements for a secure working environmentAdditional Information
