Responsibilities :

Under the supervision of the Coordinator, Adult Mental Health Services / Bridges Crisis Unit, provides a wide range of direct and indirect mental health services to adults with chronic mental illness, substance use disorders and adjustment disorders in a short term crisis residential program.
Duties include triage of referrals, intake and psychosocial assessment; crisis intervention; one on one contacts; discharge planning; consultations; treatment planning; facilitation of therapeutic groups; and consumer observation.

Requirements :

Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, or related field required.

A minimum of one year of professional experience working with persons with mental illness required.

On a case by case basis, may assess and consider an applicant with two years of paraprofessional experience working with persons with mental illness.

Experience providing psychiatric step down and hospital diversion to consumers with serious psychiatric symptoms that require more intense clinical interventions.

Candidate will provide crisis intervention as needed.

Must be able to operate a computer and have the ability to gain proficiency in CMHA-CEI's computer systems including : SmartCare, MIS LIVE, and Microsoft Word.

Possession of a valid Michigan driver's license and access to reliable transportation for job related use is required.

Conditional Employment Requirements :

Employment offers for this position will be contingent upon the results of a criminal background check (including fingerprinting), a physical exam, verification of an acceptable Michigan driving record.

Candidate must be able to pass a physical exam annually.

Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen.

Hours / Salary : $24.04 hourly. 0-19hrs per week. Will be required to work some overnight, weekends and CMHA-CEI observed holidays.

Location : Adult Mental Health / Bridges Crisis Unit, Lansing, Michigan.
