Human Resources Generalist (Contract-to-Hire)

Location : Near Sauk Village, IL | 100% On-Site |

Pay : Based on experience | Schedule : Monday–Friday, 7 : 00 a.m.–4 : 00 p.m. (occasional evening meetings once quarterly)

Salary target : $36-38 / hr.

About the Role

We’re looking for a hands-on, people-focused Human Resources Generalist to join our team in Sauk Village, IL! This position is a contract-to-hire opportunity with the potential to convert to a permanent role

As the first point of contact for new employees , you’ll play a key role in onboarding, training, and employee engagement within a dynamic manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate enjoys being on the floor, connecting with employees, answering questions, and keeping things running smoothly.

You’ll report to the HR Business Partner / Manager and partner closely with leadership to support initiatives in onboarding, learning and development, performance management, and employee relations.

What You’ll Do

Lead onboarding and orientation sessions—making a great first impression for all new hires

Conduct bi-weekly HR orientations and safety trainings at nearby facilities (less than 10 minutes away)

Support managers and employees with HR inquiries, ensuring clear communication and timely follow-up

Coordinate learning and development initiatives and assist with employee training schedules

Help with performance management and employee engagement activities

Maintain HR data, records, and reports in HRIS and Excel (intermediate to advanced skills preferred)

Assist with wellness initiatives, event coordination, and quarterly meetings (including the company picnic!)

Contribute to special projects and process improvement efforts across HR

What We’re Looking For

Bachelor’s degree preferred (Associate’s accepted with experience)

2–5 years of experience in an HR role— manufacturing, warehouse or industrial experience highly preferred

Comfortable working in an older facility and engaging with employees across shifts

Strong communicator who enjoys helping others and doesn’t get easily frustrated

Confident facilitating small group trainings or discussions

Proficient with Microsoft Office, especially Excel (intermediate or advanced)

Experience with HRIS / HCM systems (UKG a plus)

Must have a reliable vehicle to commute to a nearby training facility as needed
