Mot Laborer / Lead Man

We are currently seeking a MOT Laborer / Lead Man to join our Toano, VA team. Reporting to direct field supervision, the Laborer is responsible for driving TMA crash trucks, maintaining maintenance of traffic : setting up and dismantling lane closures and flagging. Other tasks may include but are not limited to carrying materials and heavy objects, stacking materials, and cleaning of job site. This position works along with the entire Project Team to support the completion of assigned construction tasks and ensures all plans move forward to meet projected deadlines. This is a safety sensitive position requiring work on construction sites with various safety hazards inherent in heavy construction.

This position is subject to drug testing and compliance policies associated with our status as a Federal Contractor.

Qualifications :

  • CDL is preferred
  • VDOT Traffic Control Certification is preferred
  • Valid Driver's License and reliable transportation is required
  • Heavy Highway Experience is required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong prioritization and organizational skills; detail-oriented

Job Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Carrying, loading, unloading, and stacking materials
  • Operating / driving TMA trucks in a safe manner
  • Climb embankments and ladders to carry material to various work sites on project as needed.
  • Assist team members with necessary task to complete the scope of work for each site
  • Clean up project site of debris
  • Lay out materials for experienced crew members
  • Physical Requirements :

  • Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds from ground level to waist level and assist with loading and / or unloading
  • Must be able to climb ladders
  • Must be able to be bounced around when driving on very rough terrain. Must be willing to help in other construction related tasks when not driving.
  • Must be able to climb into cab of truck and climb down from the truck cab
  • Must be able to bend, squat, and kneel to perform essential tasks including maintenance and inspection of equipment
  • Must be able to perform simple grasping and fine manipulation tasks with both hands to move levers / controls to operate the truck and dump attachment
  • Required to have acceptable corrected vision (in both eyes) and acceptable corrected hearing
  • Must be able to work outdoors in wet, muddy, cold, hot, and humid weather.
