Description :
Summary : Responsible for managing procedures and personnel associated with billing, insurance, and collections. Responsible for managing the billing department.
Duties and Responsibilities :
1. Maintains comprehensive working knowledge of government billing regulations including Medicare and Medicaid regulations and serves as a resource for appropriate organization personnel
2. Responsible for managing accurate, timely completion and submission of all the billing, collections, and accounts receivable functions of the organization.
3. Directs and manages all personnel to ensure that goals established for the Billing are met consistently.
4. Ensures reimbursement through efficient billing and collections operations and effective accounts receivable management.
5. Ensures that billing and patient account record systems are maintained in accordance with accepted accounting principles and in compliance with state, federal, and regulations
6. Demonstrates flexibility and creativity in the operation of the radiology office and interaction among ordering facilities, Radiologists, patients, and employees, while operating department in a fiscally responsible manner.
7. Facilitates and assures top quality communication among patients, doctors, and employees.
8. Maintains deadlines, prioritizes company assignments, and maintains professional composure under pressure and dynamic conditions.
9. Leads conflict resolution and maintains a constructive working relationship with employees at all levels of the organization.
10. Fosters a workplace consistent with the values and vision of the company.
11. Investigates and corrects customer service issues or complaints related to the billing process.
13. Responsible for insurance, technician, and physician credentialing.
14. Oversees and manages all billing systems related to billing and payment procedures and communicates with computer vendors regarding software / hardware issues.
15. Ensures all bills pursuant to the billing cycle are mailed in accordance with practice guidelines.
16. Reviews and approves department timekeeping records.
17. Resolves issues in a real-time environment; to proactively prevent issues that impact facility or physician satisfaction
18. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities :
Directly manages Billing employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Provides guidance and direction to personnel to assist them in their professional development.
1. Develop and maintain an effective department through the selection, training, compensation, motivation and review of Billing personnel.
2. Discuss job performance problems with employees to identify causes and issues and work on resolving them.
3. Implement departmental policies, procedures, and service standards in conjunction with management.
4. Manage the Billing department to ensure adherence to quality standards, deadlines, and proper procedures, correcting errors, or problems.
5. Review records and reports pertaining to activities such as production, payroll, to verify details, monitor work activities, and evaluate performance.

Language Ability :
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Math Ability :
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability :
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills :
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
Education / Experience :
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or six to eight years related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certificates and Licenses :
Medical billing certification
