Who you are
- Dedication and commitment to the mission of HCZ Promise Academy
- Bachelor's degree with at least 2 years of teaching experience is required
- 2 – 5 years of teaching experience in an urban school setting is desired
- New York State certification for the subject area required (TESOL / ENL / ESL)
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
What you’ll do
Schedule Monday – Friday, work hours 7 : 40am – 4 : 00pmEnsure that the school’s academic standards are rigorous, clear, measurable, and aligned with Common Core State StandardsDevelop lessons and activities that are aligned with the academic standardsDevelop assessments that measure progress toward the academic standardsEnsure that students master grade-level standardsMaintain and communicate high academic and personal expectations for all studentsIncorporate direct instruction, discussion, projects, and cooperative work to engage students, keep classes focused, and infuse a lasting desire to learnFollow the school’s policies and procedures for student conduct and discipline, and refuse to tolerate classroom disruptionsDevelop and use a variety of assessments (e.g., exams, written work, and public performances) that frequently measure student progress toward the school’s content and skill standardsDevelop clear evaluation criteria and distribute to students prior to assignmentsCommunicate effectively with students, parents, and colleaguesShare responsibility for grade level and school-wide activitiesOpportunity to work Saturdays during test prep season – additional compensation providedBenefits

Incoming teacher salaries are determined based on their number of years of experience as a lead teacher, level of education (bachelor’s, or master’s degree), and certification. We offer a $6,000 signing bonus (paid in $3,000 installments 6 months and 9 months after your start date) and highly competitive salaries with generous performance-based bonuses, a comprehensive benefits package, and a low student-teacher ratio
