About The Position

Job Title : Registered Nurse

Shift : 12H Nights

Hours per Shift : 12 Hours

Experience : Minimum 2 years

License : Active License Required

Certifications : ACLS, BLS, NIHSS

Must-Have : Ability to read and interpret EKG strips. Experience with ventilators.

Description :

The role involves working in an intensive care unit with a patient ratio of 1 : 1-2.

Candidates should be comfortable with common diagnoses such as Medical / Surgical ICU cases, non-STEMIs, CVA, multi-organ failure, sepsis, and respiratory failure.

Post-operative patients with complications are also common on this unit.

Bedside procedures like TEEs and bronchoscopies are frequently performed.

Comfort care patients are regularly admitted, and candidates must be comfortable providing palliative care.

Multidisciplinary rounds are conducted during the day shift.

Travelers are expected to work a minimum of four weekend shifts within a four-week period.

Holiday rotations will occur with core staff, and candidates may need to work two of the three major holidays.

Self-scheduling is available, and while block scheduling is generally not, schedules will be balanced by management.

Travelers have access to their schedules from home, allowing them to make themselves available for extra shifts and to trade with staff.

Mid-shift floating to other facilities is rare but may happen.

Orientation on the floor will last one to two days with a preceptor.

The charge nurse generally does not take on patients but provides relief for breaks.

The floor does not have nurse aides available, and there is a respiratory therapist and pharmacy staff on site 24 / 7.

Report is conducted at the bedside, starting your shift at 07 : 00 and concluding at 07 : 30.

Ratios will typically be maintained, and candidates should have a strong teamwork ethic to collaborate effectively with hospitalists and intensivists present in-house.
