We are looking for someone who is motivated, dynamic, and agile to perform a variety of general and statutory accounting, financial reporting and analyses for the North American property and casualty insurance division. This position will primarily focus on performing contract and reinsurance accounting, statutory reporting, balance sheet reconciliations, analyses, journal entries, compliance filings, and working on projects. This position will also work with data cubes and accounting hubs and prepare ad hoc financial analyses. The Accountant III will partner with others in the finance organization, as well as interact with underwriting, claims, actuarial, and compliance departments.

This position will sit on site 3 days a week and can be worked in either our Dallas, TX office or our Jersey City, NJ office.

The salary range for this role is $57,000 - 100,000 annually. This range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in Jersey City, NJ. Base pay offered may vary depending on, but not limited to education, experience, skills, geographic location, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics. This range may be modified in the future.

Responsibilities

Review the MGA and reinsurance contracts and provide an appropriate update.

• Validate the premium and loss bordereau for reconciliation with the data files, and then upload it into the ledger..
• Prepare journal entries, ensuring that supporting documentation is robust and that the processes behind each entry are understood.
• Perform testing and set up contracts for automation implementation.
• Monitor reinsurance collateral for unauthorized reinsurers and review collateral adequacy and requirements.
• Prepare reinsurance statements and billings in accordance with the reinsurance contract.
• Prepare a cession statement or financial report for programs, which includes responding to inquiries, conducting analysis, and generating Ad Hoc reports.
• Prepare P&C statutory financial package, including flux analysis and supplemental schedules..
• Assist with various state regulatory compliance filings.
• Prepare balance sheet reconciliations, investigate exceptions, monitor accounts, and propose entries for correction.
• Address any issues and inquiries that may arise from senior management, external customers, and various internal partners.
• Work with data cubes, accounting hubs, and subledgers to trace components and sub-components of general ledger accounts and support ad hoc and complex analyses.
• Strive to continually improve business processes and communicate opportunities and issues to management while maintaining strong and effective internal controls.
• Perform special projects as assigned or as needed.
