The Claims Support Specialist plays a vital role in supporting our claims offices. In addition to ensuring essential administrative functions run smoothly, you may also interact with customers. This includes answering telephones, claim file set up, confirming valid policy and coverage, obtaining documentation, scanning and attaching mail as well as assisting with additional projects.

Position Responsibilities

Claims Management Intake

  • Enter new claims into a claims database and update as needed
  • Manages documentation, tracks claim progress, and ensures compliance with company procedures and state regulations
  • Confirms valid policy and coverage is in place

Administrative Support

  • Answer and direct phone calls.
  • Manage and organize files and records securely.
  • Prepare and disseminate correspondence, memos, and forms.
  • Handle incoming and outgoing mail and packages.
  • Performs special projects assigned by Claims Management Team
  • Operational Efficiency / Customer Service

  • Perform a wide variety of routine clerical work including filing, checking and recording information on records, maintaining logs for assigned functions.
  • Education / Experience Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, desired not required with plus 1-3 years of experience.
  • Experience in claims processing, preferably in the insurance industry
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to analyze and interpret data
  • Proficiency in relevant computer software and systems
  • Required Skills

  • Ability to communicate in a positive and clear manner with all levels of personnel
  • Ability to manage time efficiently to complete the day's tasks on schedule
  • Independent problem-solver
  • Strong computer skills, including experience with databases and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to multi-task while remaining detail-focused
  • Position - Language Skills

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers.
