Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med / Surg Tele position requiring night shifts, strong Med / Surg skills, and a current NC or compact license.
Responsibilities
Work in a hospital medical / surgical telemetry unitPatient ratio is typically 1 : 6-7Care for adult medical / surgical patients, including those requiring heparin drips and insulin administrationShift is 3x12 hour nights (18 : 45 - 7 : 15), 36 hours per weekWeekend shifts required every other weekendWork on holidays is required; must work at least 2 out of 3 major holidaysFloating to similar units and affiliate hospitals is required, typically once a weekEMR system used is Epic; Pyxis is used for medication management; SBAR is used for communicationAssignment lengths of 13-26 weeks acceptedConsolidation to Centralized Office or preassignment to units may occur mid-contractScrub color is navyProvide comprehensive nursing care for med / surg telemetry patients, including managing heparin dripsParticipation in Storm Team and / or Hurricane Team is required, including reporting to work during disasters or mass casualty eventsRequired to complete approximately 24 hours of unit orientationNo RTO allowed in the first week of the assignment; up to 7 days of RTO may be approved if not on a holidayFatigue policy limits work to no more than 5 days in a row or 60 hours per weekOnline and in-person modules must be completed pre-start and annuallyCurrent travel Per Diem clinicians at this health system are not eligible for a travel contract simultaneouslyCandidates living within 50 miles are offered a local rateRequirements
Active NC or compact RN license required at time of startMinimum of 2 years of recent Med / Surg Tele experience requiredCurrent Basic Life Support (BCLS) certification requiredMust have experience with heparin and insulin administrationMust pass an EKG test prior to startEpic EMR experience requiredMust provide 2 manager or supervisor references from within the past 12 months by start dateCandidates must not have been a permanent, PRN, or EP staff employee of the specified health system within the past 12 monthsBenefits
