Howmet Aerospace is currently looking for Electrician(s) to join our Industrial Gas Turbine (IGT) group in Hampton, Virginia. The available shift hours are 1st shift, M-F 7am-3pm ; 2nd shift, M-F 3pm-11pm ; 3rd shift, M-F 11pm-7am ; and Weekend shift, F-Sun 7am-7pm . Training is 1st shift, M-F 7am-3pm .

New Hire Starting Rate : $37.52 p / hr.

This position will receive an hourly "shift premium" of $1.00 p / hr. while assigned to an off shift.

Job Summary : The Electrician installs and repairs electrical systems, apparatus, and electrical and electronic components of industrial machinery and equipment.

Essential Functions & Job Responsibilities :

\n

  • Ability to read and follow the information on printed work instructions.

\n

  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics.
  • \n

  • Records data either manually or by computer as required.
  • \n

  • Utilizes Lockout-Tagout (LOTO) procedure to ensure zero energy state.
  • \n

  • Installs conduit and field wiring for all electrical systems within the facility.
  • \n

  • Connects power supply wires to machines and equipment. Connect cables and wires between machines and subsystem equipment (pumps / valves / sensors).
  • \n

  • Diagnoses malfunctioning apparatus, such as transformers, motors, and lighting fixtures and replaces damaged or broken wire and cables.
  • \n

  • Tests malfunctioning machinery and work with other maintenance personnel to diagnose malfunction root causes.
  • \n

  • Ability to effectively use various electrical troubleshooting devices, including ammeters, voltmeters, meggers, thermal scanners and cable testers.
  • \n

  • Replaces faulty electrical components of machine, such as relays, switches, motors, and positions sensing devices.
  • \n

  • Diagnoses and repairs or replace faulty electronic components, such as printed circuit boards.
  • \n

  • Replace electric motors, check for proper rotation, and measure amperage.
  • \n

  • Plans layout of wiring and installs wiring, conduit, and electrical apparatus in buildings.
  • \n

  • Diagnoses and replaces faulty mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components of machines and equipment.
  • \n

  • Must comply with all company attendance policies and guidelines; this includes, but is not limited to, regular attendance and occasional overtime as needed.
  • \n

  • Other duties within the scope of the role as assigned by supervisory leadership.

    Qualifications

    Basic Qualifications :

    \n

  • This position requires a minimum of an associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school.
  • \n

  • This position requires a minimum of 5 years of industrial maintenance experience and / or training dealing with electrical systems.
  • \n

  • Must be available for all shifts as the schedule varies depending on site operational needs; flexibility is required.
  • \n

  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • \n

  • This position entails access to export-controlled items and employment offers are conditioned upon an applicant's ability to lawfully obtain access to such items.

  • State of Virginia Maintenance / Contractor Journeyman Certification
