Description of Job Duties and Responsibilities :
- Use computer-aided design systems (NX and AutoCAD) for all mechanical design and development
- Be responsible for selecting methods, processes, component parts related to new developments, improvements, modifications utilizing United Grinding Groups standards and specifications for machined components, weldments, and fabrications
- Participate in the start-up, integration, and debugging phase of projects on-site at United Grinding North America or at a customer installation
- Maintain all engineering documentation related to new designs, modifications, and developments such as drawings, part lists, revision history, etc. and be responsible for distribution of change numbers to the applicable departments
- Assist in the creation and maintenance of customer specific projects or standard system documentation
- Work on a team to review pre-sale project proposals and quotes to determine time frames, costs, funding limitations, procedures, resource requirements and their allotment to various phases of the project
- Participate in project planning to ensure project progresses on schedule and within prescribed budget
- Train to be a key user of SAP within the team; specifically generating engineering data in material masters and bill of materials and the procurement of purchased materials (parts, supplies, equipment and services) including the coordination of these efforts with Production Planning and Supply Chain to secure materials within each project timeline
- Provide technical information as required with internal departments as well as external suppliers and customers
- Participate in continual improvement programs and communicate ideas to the team
Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience in Related Field, Skills, etc.) :
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent training and / or a minimum of 5 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experienceAdvanced knowledge of 2D and 3D CAD systems – preference AutoCAD and NX.Experience with SAP MRP systemMust possess a proven ability to develop and implement standard engineering practices, as well as provide detailed documentation upon project completionStrong initiative and integrity as well as strong written and verbal communication skillsMust be able to successfully work independently and within teamsSelf-motivated and the ability to demonstrate creative thinkingPreferred Qualifications (Certificates, Training, Licenses, and Experience) :
Experience in the machine tool industryProject management certification or experienceThe ability to conduct business in English and GermanOther (Supervisory Responsibilities, Physical Demands, Travel) :
