OverviewThe Detention Deputy Sheriff plays a crucial role in maintaining safety and enforcing laws within the detention facility. This position involves patrolling assigned areas, responding to emergencies, and providing assistance to inmates in the detention facility. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to service, possess strong conflict management skills, and uphold the highest standards of integrity and professionalism.
- Responsibilities
- Patrol designated areas to deter and detect criminal activity within the detention facility.
- Respond promptly to emergencies and incidents, providing assistance as needed.
- Conduct investigations into crimes and incidents with in the detention Facility. Gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses until investigators arrive.
- Prepare detailed reports documenting incidents, investigations, and actions taken.
- Administer meals, medications, and help attend court meetings.
- Collaborate with other law enforcement agencies and community organizations.
- Utilize CCTV systems for surveillance and monitoring purposes.
- Provide first aid and CPR in emergency situations until medical personnel arrive.
- Experience
Candidates should possess the following skills and qualifications :
- Proven experience in law enforcement or a related field is preferred.
- Strong report writing skills for accurate documentation of incidents.
- Certification in CPR and First Aid is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with CCTV systems for effective surveillance operations.
- Experience in conflict management to handle potentially volatile situations effectively.
- A background in military service is a plus but not mandatory.
- Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to public service, ethical conduct, and continuous professional development.
- Candidates must be able to pass a background investigation.
- Candidates must be able to pass the Idaho Peace Officer Standards and Training, Post Physical Readiness Test.
- Must be able to complete and pass a polygraph examination.
- Must be able to take and pass a psychological exam.

Pay : $41,600.00 - $47,840.00 per year
