Travel RN Job Details

Location : Tyler, Texas 75701 (East Texas nursing jobs)

Assignment Length : 13-week travel nursing contract

Start Date : November 17, 2025

End Date : February 16, 2026

Shift : 3 x 12-hour night shifts (18 : 00 - 06 : 00)

Hours per Week : 36

Unit : Labor & Delivery (LDRP), 14 rooms, average daily census of 14

Patient Ratio : 1 : 2

Weekend Coverage : Required (6 weekends per contract)

Orientation : 36 hours onsite

Registered Nurse Qualifications

Active RN license (Texas or compact state)

Minimum 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery RN experience in a hospital setting

Previous travel nursing experience required

Certifications : ACLS, BLS, NRP, and AWHONN (Advanced, Beginner, or Intermediate)

Proficiency with Epic electronic health record (EHR) system

Preferred : Charge nurse experience, Trauma Level I experience

Must not reside in the following Texas counties : Henderson, Anderson, Cherokee, Rusk, Panola, Smith, Gregg, Van Zandt, Wood, Upshur, Camp, Hopkins, Franklin, Titus, Morris

Labor & Delivery RN Responsibilities

Deliver comprehensive nursing care to laboring mothers and newborns in a high-acuity LDRP unit

Assist with high-risk deliveries, C-sections, and vaginal births

Conduct newborn assessments, APGAR scoring, and provide postpartum care

Administer medications and therapies, including magnesium sulfate, Pitocin, and anticoagulants

Support breastfeeding and provide lactation education to new mothers

Educate parents on newborn care, car seat safety, and discharge instructions

Document patient care accurately and efficiently using Epic EHR

Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams, including physical therapy, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and social services

Maintain strict safety and infection control standards in accordance with hospital policies

Work 2 out of 3 major holidays if required
