WHAT'S YOUR DAY LIKE?

As a Collections Officer, you'll dive into the dynamic world of credit collection and counseling, tackling the unique challenges of delinquent commercial loans and overdrawn accounts. Your role involves issuing letters, maintaining meticulous account records, and even making court appearances when needed. You'll also be instrumental in originating, underwriting, and closing both secured and unsecured commercial loans. Your ability to forge and maintain positive relationships with existing and potential commercial customers, as well as other financial institutions, will be key to driving successful outcomes.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR IN A COLLECTIONS OFFICER

To excel as a Collections Officer, you'll need a blend of education and practical experience. A Bachelor's degree is preferred, along with 3-4 years of experience in commercial lending and consumer collections. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are a must, as you'll be negotiating and counseling clients effectively.

You'll also need the ability to work independently while exercising sound judgment, especially when locating borrowers who may have abandoned property or ceased payments. Proficiency in spreadsheet, word processing, and database software will be essential for maintaining accurate records. A thorough understanding of the applicable statutes and procedures relating to debt collection, collateral repossession, and consumer bankruptcy is crucial.

Knowledge and skills required for the position are :

• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• 3-4 years of commercial lending with consumer debt collection experience.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and exercise independent judgment.
• Ability to locate borrowers who have abandoned property or ceased making payment on loans.
• Good knowledge of spreadsheet, word processing and database software programs.
• Thorough knowledge of applicable statutes and procedures affecting the collection or recovery of payments / debt, repossession of collateral, and applicable consumer bankruptcy statutes relating to leased property.
