Job Description

Purpose Statement

To support the vision and goals of Cord-Sets Inc. by ensuring a continuous supply of goods and materials to meet production and customer needs through efforts in material planning and buying, while developing and maintaining a competitive supply base.

Essential Functions

Material Planning

  • Plan material needs utilizing Cord-Sets MRP system.
  • Determine, recommend, establish and administer proper inventory levels for both on hand inventory and consignment inventory by checking the system and doing in person visual checks.
  • Maintain accurate inventory balances and minimize obsolescence cost exposure.
  • Manage the cycle count schedule and content and conduct cycle counts.

Purchasing Goods and Services

  • Prepare and execute purchase orders for the purchasing of direct and indirect materials and services.
  • Receive goods and services, enter them into the MRP system and coordinate moving goods to their appropriate locations.
  • Process Accounts Payable invoices.
  • Manage material returns quickly and completely with the supplier, including return PO’s and debit memos.
  • Manage the Supplier relationship professionally and expertly

  • Conduct sourcing and select suppliers as directed by supervisor.
  • Interview vendors to obtain information relative to product quality, price, service, delivery and ability to supply.
  • Review proposals and obtain samples from suppliers to support supervisor’s efforts to achieve desired terms of business.
  • Work with suppliers to improve supplier performance, identifying areas for improvement, and guiding the supplier with appropriate sense of urgency.
  • Proactively manage the Purchasing and Material Management functions

  • Run reports and analyze data to set, audit and expedite deliveries in support of customer shipments, production and / or maintenance schedules.
  • Manage compliance reports and documentation, e.g. REACH, ROHS, Prop 65, etc.
  • Determine what is driving lead times, pricing issues and material issues and recommend plans to protect Cord-Sets’ customers from being negatively impacted.
  • Ensure the MRP system is maintained accurately with respect to supplier and material content.
  • Research and stay current with supplier industry trends.
  • Actively participate and support company kaizen and continuous improvement activities.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

  • Superior communication skills.  The ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization, and to represent Cord-Sets owners and Senior Managers professionally and effectively with our business partners.

  • Ability to adapt to change and maintain composure in stressful or challenging situations.
  • Ability to understand the item master / part set in the MRP.
  • Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent with a minimum of three years’ work experience in purchasing, manufacturing operations, or business field or a combination of education and experience.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in manufacturing environment preferred.
