American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring 2 years of experience and an active AZ or compact RN license.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in an acute care hospital Progressive Care Unit (PCU) with stepdown-level patientsHandles cardiovascular and surgical cases, including patients post-catheterization and post-open heart surgeryCares for STEMI, NSTEMI, chronic vents, alcohol withdrawal, suicidal ideation, thoracotomies, new BiPAP / CPAP, renal disease, chest tubes, peritoneal dialysis, and arterial or venous sheath pullsPCU unit has 14 beds with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1 : 3-4 depending on acuityUtilizes Philips Cardiac Monitors, Tele, Welch Allyn Vital Signs, Medtronic Pacemakers, Cerner EMR, Pyxis med dispenser, Zoll R series, Sigma Spectrum IV pumps, and Mistral Air Warming units12-hour night shifts with every other weekend requiredFirst to float with required floating to Med / Surg and Tele units, float to ICU preferredResponsibilities include providing acute care to complex cardiovascular and surgical patients in a fast-paced settingPatients are primarily managed by hospitalists under a critical care service lineNavy scrubs required and business-appropriate hair color must be maintainedTesting on sterile technique for foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes required during orientationCandidates who fail required tests twice are ineligible for roles in the region for 6 monthsTwo professional references are needed : one supervisor from the past 12 months and one peer or supervisor from the past 3 yearsCopy of valid driver's license required for considerationHoliday coverage may be required depending on facility needs\n \n Requirements\n
Active AZ or compact state RN license in good standing requiredCurrent ACLS and BLS certifications requiredMinimum 2 years of RN experience with at least 1 year in PCU requiredProficiency in EKG, cardiac IV medication administration, peritoneal dialysis, chronic vent care, arterial and venous sheath pulling, transvenous pacing, epidural catheters, chest tubes, and PCA pumpsMust pass dysrhythmia exam prior to contract signing (80% within two attempts)Cerner EMR experience preferredCandidates may not have worked full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity within the past yearPermanent residence must be at least 50 miles from the facility\n Benefits\n
