- The Electric Distribution Operations department in the East Richmond office in Richmond, Virginia has an Electric Service Worker 1st Class vacancy.
This position requires a self-starter who can effectively prioritize and who doesn't mind working alone and driving. The successful candidate will have responsibility for the following :
The repair and maintenance of both overhead and underground electrical distribution linesBeing the first responder to power outagesWorking closely with the Regional Operations Centers within the Dominion service territoryWorking alone 90% of the time.Working a rotating shift.Available for call-outs during outages and or storm restoration eventsEligible for premium pay for applicable overtime hoursThe starting rate for this position is $51.91 / hour for fully qualified applicants. Effective 4 / 1 / 2024 starting pay rate for this position will be $50.52 / hour for fully qualified applicants.Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
This position requires a minimum of 3 (three) years’ experience in overhead and underground electrical line work (Note : A partial year of related work experience of 6 months or greater will be considered one year towards the qualifications)
The selected individual must be able to assess at a competency level 4 in the Dominion Lineman Development program in both overhead and underground energized line work (Successful candidates must take a pre-employment assessment)Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :
Perform functions included but not limited to responding to underground and overhead outages, locating and repairing cable faults, replacing fuses with appropriate hot sticks, performing minimal switching, removing trees from overhead conductors, and replacing streetlight and watchlight eyes and bulbs.Required : Must be able to lift 75lbsMust have a solid understanding of industrial electrical distribution systems and maintenance techniquesMust understand and be competent in switching practices related to the electrical distribution industryKnowledge of Safety processes and practices within the industrial electrical distribution industryMust have strong communications skills verbal and writtenMust be able to understand industry 3-way communication methodMust be a self-starter with the ability to work alone 90% of the time while still being part of a local team.Must be able to meet and maintain applicable NERC / FERC requirements.Position requires the ability to obtain a valid class A CDL by the end of the 5th month of employmentCall out, overtime availability, and ability to work rotating shifts is requiredWeight restrictions also apply, for safety reasons, must be able to maintain a weight below 290 poundsPrefer individuals who have completed a recognized Line Worker Development programTo military applicants : Military service members and veterans with ranks from E3-E5, W1-W2, or O1-O3, plus appropriate equivalent combination of education and years of experience as outlined (above / below).Please Note : If the required minimum years of experience are not reflected on your resume, you will not be considered for this job.
