Job description

SUMMARY :

The Human Resources Specialist will assist the Director of Human Resources with the administration of the day-to-day operations of the department, including recruiting, advertising, new employee orientations, coordinating the safety committee, Workers' Compensation, background checks, and regulatory compliance. This position will provide back up to and collaborate closely with the Director of Human Resources.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

  • Recruits and retains employees for the agency.
  • Maintains active job openings; manages internal and external job postings, application tracking, and attends recruitment events as needed.
  • Reviews applications for positions; conducts and / or schedules preliminary interviews, and works with management to complete candidate interviews and selection.
  • Performs administrative and recordkeeping tasks related to staffing changes, which may include layoffs, resignations, and terminations.
  • Assists and supports company-wide information meetings such as open enrollment, new hire orientation, and meetings to announce or discuss changes in retirement or benefits plans.
  • Conducts or assists with record audits and mandatory reports, which may include I-9 audits, EEO-1 filings, payroll audits, and other compliance reviews.
  • Practices conflict resolution, with direct communication when difficulties arise, and encourages staff to do the same.
  • Schedules and keeps meeting minutes for the MDS safety committee
  • Assists with family managed programs and collaborates closely with that department
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Bachelor's or Associate's Degree in Human Resources, and / or a minimum of 3 years' experience in Human Resources.
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred
  • Must have a solid history of recruitment experience
  • Strong organizational, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Proficient with navigating computer systems and various HRIS platforms
  • Strong skills in utilizing Google applications as well as Microsoft Office Suite
  • Valid driver's license, reliable transportation and 100,000 / 300,000 auto insurance is required. Mileage reimbursement is available for employment related travel.
  • Must be able to pass the following state regulated background checks : Criminal record, driving record, DCYF, BAAS, OIG,
  • WORKING CONDITIONS :

  • Work schedule is usual office hours : Monday through Friday (8 : 00 am – 4 : 30 pm), with flexibility to accommodate individuals served, their family, and agency needs, including some evening events or meetings.
  • Statewide travel as needed. Mileage reimbursement is available for employment related travel.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting, at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25lbs.
  • Must be physically able to access residences and community buildings as needed.
