Assistant Dean for the School of Business The Assistant Dean is responsible for assisting and supporting the Dean in planning, coordinating,managing and monitoring, and evaluating all functions and activities associated with students,
faculty, administrative personnel, programs, and associated operations in the School of Business.
The incumbent serves as the representative of the Dean in assigned areas and in the Dean’s
absence. The Assistant Dean supports program planning, outcomes assessment processes,
professional development, and recruitment for the College Strong communications, Excel and technology skills are required, and the incumbent must have
a working knowledge of university financial management policies, procedures, and reporting.
He / she must be able to work well with a diverse group of individuals, both inside and outside the
School, including undergraduate and graduate students, full-time and adjunct faculty,
administrative personnel at campus and university levels, parents, and outside agencies. Flexible
hours, including weekends and evenings, are required to execute the position’s role responsibly. Main Responsibilities : • Implement and monitor programs, policies, and resource applications necessary to
accomplish the mission, goals, and objectives of the School. • Works with chair and faculty to finalize course schedules and teaching assignments,
ensures full workloads for Full-Time Faculty, and approves all workloads before being
sent to Payroll. • Provide students mentorship and supports them with class enrollment and plan of study
questions. • Works with the Dean and other support areas to organize development and career
service events. • Participates in recruiting events, including high school visits, business competitions, LIU
open houses, and additional events as needed. • Continuously implement recruiting activities to increase enrollment for undergraduate
and graduate students, including reaching out to prospective students and potential
partnerships. • Support extra-curricular clubs and activities related to the Business school, such as LIUiQ Consulting, LIU-investment fund, and LIU marketing society. • Evaluates graduate admissions applications for Dean’s consideration. • Reviews and provides feedback regarding budget plans and the management thereof to
support the effective use of University resources. • With the assistance of students and co-workers, be responsible for maintaining the COM
website and the academic bulletins current and up to date. • Completes surveys and required paperwork to augment the College’s status, including
US News and World Report and the Princeton Review. • Manage the Business School’s social media channels. • Assists with researching and writing miscellaneous and ad hoc reports / projects as
needed. • Additional duties as assigned. Education Requirements : An earned Master’s degree in Business, Education, or a related field. Training, Skills, Knowledge, Experience : Background in an educational setting is preferred.
Skilled in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and PPT. Will work as part of the College of
Management Dean’s Office team and must be able to work collegially Working Conditions : Office setting on campus; in some instances, travel will be required for
