Job Title
This position is responsible for a variety of activities in analyzing, designing, implementing, coordinating, and evaluating of programs, policies, and data within the City.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to : overseeing assigned administrative processes, procedures, and programs; providing technical and specialized administrative support to the assigned department. Conducts a variety of organizational, operational and analytical studies and investigations; collects, summarizes, and evaluates data; recommends and implements modifications to existing programs as appropriate. Primary duties also consist of preparing formal correspondence, reports, documents, memos, & other material such as proclamations and legislative letters on behalf of the City Manager or City Council. The successful candidate will also serve as a liaison with employees, the public, community groups, local businesses and other organizations; respond to complaints and questions related to assigned areas of responsibility; monitor state and federal legislation that has potential implications to City operations and the local community and advises accordingly; responds to regional partners on legislative and policy support matters. In addition, the successful candidate would prepare council reports, presentations, meeting agendas / minutes, resolutions; maintain a wide variety of records; perform complex research, analysis and prepare documentation in support of special projects. Under general supervision from the management staff within the assigned department, the position will also perform other related duties as required for the successful performance of the position.
The ideal candidate will be able to successfully organize, prioritize, and follow-up on work assignments; multi-task, be responsive to time-sensitive matters; meet project deadlines and initiate the completion of routine tasks without formal direction. In addition, the incumbent will need to keep up with changing laws, codes, ordinances and regulations pertaining to assigned duties; accurately analyze situations and negotiate effective solutions to complex problems. The candidate will also need to prioritize providing professional and timely internal and external customer service.
Qualifications (The following are the minimal qualifications necessary for entry into the classification.)
Education / Experience : At least three (3) years of increasingly responsible administrative and analytical experience, preferably within a public agency.
A Bachelor's Degree in Public or Business Administration, Management, or a closely related field from an accredited college / university is required.
License / Certificate : Possession of a valid Class C California driver's license with a satisfactory driving record or the ability to get from point to point for meetings, events and trainings.
