Summary
The food safety and quality assurance technician will focus on assisting on the implementation of the food safety and quality plan for the incoming, in-process and finished products. Completes weekly internal audits for GMPs, Glass and Brittle, Breading Pickup, Facility Inspection for compliance. Responsible for assigning and monitoring all processes within the operation for adherence to internal and regulatory requirements. Oversees the QA technicians including rotation of line schedule and supports in new hire training. Maintains and reviews daily documents for HACCP, FDA and USDA compliance.
Responsibilities
1. Perform analytical testing for raw material / ingredients received for each shipment and follow the rejection criteria SOP if they do not meet the set specifications; included temperature monitoring and pH
2. Collect samples for environmental microbiology monitoring of manufacturing areas
3. Collect samples for testing of ingredients, products and packaging materials from production
4. Conduct, analyze and document qualitative and quantitative testing results for in-process and finished products against quality standards
5. Maintain accurate and up to date records with daily review of previous and current production date
6. Monitor and perform lab equipment calibrations, including thermometers, pH meter, and chlorometer
7. Communicate product quality issues to senior management
8. Monitor facility temperatures during daily walk and report any unsafe temperatures to maintenance
9. Performs or assists with additional assignments as directed by QA Management
10. Member of HACCP team; including Backup of PCQI & HACCP for supervisor and manager
11. Position is expected to promote food safety and quality culture and being engaged in its performance.
12. Position is expected to participate, when required, in CAPA activities related to audit findings (internal and external), customer complaints, verification and validation activities and process deviations.
13. Attend daily huddle to represent the quality department
14. Assist in review of open work orders form the maintenance team to follow up with completion including QA sign off
