Speechifys text-to-speech products turn PDFs, books, Google Docs, news articles, and websites into audio so people can read faster, read more, and remember more. Our products include the Android app, iOS app, Mac app, Chrome extension, and Web app. Speechify has been recognized for design and inclusivity and operates with a distributed workforce of about 200 people globally.

Overview

As our Android app grows in popularity, we are seeking a Senior Android Engineer to support the expanding user base and lead new projects that advance our product. This role is ideal for someone who thinks strategically, thrives in a fast-paced environment, makes product-focused decisions, and creates user experiences that delight users. We value a flat organization, strong technical skills, and consistent, fast delivery. Excellent communication and a drive to win are essential.

Our interview process involves multiple technical interviews with the goal of completing them within one week.

What Youll Do

• Own major features and collaborate with design to deliver high-quality functionality inside the app.
• Shape the future of our Android team.
• Own, maintain, and improve reliability metrics for key features.
• Participate in cross-team discussions (Product, Design, Engineering).
• Review pull requests and support teammates.
• Handle critical issues and unexpected challenges.
• Own feature releases and provide nightly builds for QA.
