Position Summary :
The Dietary Aide assists in the preparation, service, and cleanup of meals for residents in accordance with federal, state, and local standards and facility policies. This position plays a critical role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming dining environment for residents, guests, and staff.
Key Responsibilities :
Assist with meal preparation under the direction of the Cook or Dietary Manager
Serve meals to residents in dining areas and deliver trays to rooms as needed
Set up meal trays, dining room tables, and food carts
Clean dishes, utensils, equipment, and kitchen surfaces
Follow prescribed meal plans and dietary restrictions for each resident
Ensure food is served at the proper temperature and in a timely manner
Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in accordance with health regulations
Remove trash and dispose of food waste properly
Assist with receiving and storing food and supplies
Maintain positive and respectful communication with residents and team members
Report any changes in residents' appetite or dietary needs to the supervisor
Qualifications :
High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Previous food service or healthcare experience preferred
Basic understanding of food safety and sanitation
Ability to read, write, and follow written and oral instructions
Physical ability to lift up to 30 lbs, stand and walk for long periods, and handle cleaning chemicals safely
Compassionate and respectful demeanor when interacting with elderly residents
Work Environment :
This position works primarily in the kitchen and dining areas, which may involve exposure to hot surfaces, sharp utensils, and cleaning chemicals. Noise and heat levels may be elevated during peak meal times.
