Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU position requiring a CT or compact license and a minimum of two years' CVICU experience.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a Cardiovascular ICU and Stepdown hybrid unit of a short-term acute care Level I Trauma Center
  • Unit features 8 cardiac ICU beds and 6 cardiac stepdown beds
  • Patient population includes cardiothoracic surgery pre and post-op, advanced heart failure, peripheral vascular, and cardiac surgery patients
  • Average nurse-to-patient ratio is 1 : 3
  • Day shift schedule with four 12-hour shifts per week (7 : 00-19 : 00)
  • Every other weekend is required
  • Floating to stepdown and within scope to accommodate facility needs
  • Epic is used for charting; prior Epic experience preferred but not required
  • Daily assignments will rotate between ICU and stepdown as needed
  • Must be comfortable caring for high-volume cardiac patients and floating to stepdown
  • First-time travelers are accepted
  • Royal blue scrubs are required
  • No local candidates accepted; must live more than 75 miles from the facility
  • Return travelers must have been gone for at least two years to be considered
  • More than 7 days of requested time off requires facility approval
  • Pre-employment online modules must be completed prior to start

    • Requirements

  • Active CT or compact RN license (may be pending but must be active prior to start)
  • Minimum 2 years of recent CVICU or cardiac critical care experience required
  • Experience working in a large Level I Trauma Center is required
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications are required
  • Must provide at least one professional reference
  • Flu vaccine is required with no declinations accepted
  • COVID-19 vaccination and booster required unless approved for religious or medical exemption
