Theatre Technician – Lighting (L1) Hours vary, including evenings, weekends, and event days
Bring every show to light with precision, safety, and creativity.
What You'll Do Operate, maintain, and support all venue lighting systems for concerts, community events, and rentals. Assist touring lighting crews and ensure the venue's lighting infrastructure is safe, functional, and show-ready.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate lighting consoles and prepare lighting rigs for events
- Assist with fixture placement, DMX networking, and power distribution
- Troubleshoot lighting issues during load-in, rehearsal, and performances
- Lead stagehands or techs in lighting setup and strike
- Maintain fixtures, cables, consoles, and storage areas safely and organized
- Enforce rigging safety and compliance with OSHA and venue regulations
- Support general stage and production tasks as needed
Supervisory Responsibilities
What You Bring | Education & Experience
- High school diploma; advanced education in theater/lighting preferred
- Experience with digital lighting consoles and concert lighting systems
Technical Skills & Knowledge
- Proficiency with DMX, networking, power distribution, and fixture maintenance
- Ability to read lighting plots and tech riders
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays in an outdoor venue
- ETCP Certified Entertainment Electrician preferred
Required Certifications
- Valid Indiana Driver's License if using City vehicle
