DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Ensures that all actions are in concert with the Board policies as well as the mission statement, beliefs, objectives and parameters found in the Board's strategic plan.
- Participates in job training and professional growth opportunities in order to enhance ability to perform the essential functions of the job.
- Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment.
- Schedules field trips for departments and schools.
- Enters field trips requests in Excel spreadsheet and sends confirmations to schools/departments.
- Bills schools and departments for field trips taken.
- Implements assignment of driver routes, schedules, and buses to be driven.
- Checks in bus drivers and field trip drivers and monitors their movements during the operation of their assigned trips.
- Assigns substitute buses and drivers for field trips where appropriate.
- Informs drivers of field trips or extra trip assignments.
- May drive a school bus on an emergency basis as needed.
- Prepares reports and maintains records as required (within the areas of responsibility).
- Various clerical duties such as answering telephones, checking student transportation information, and interacting with parents and school staff
QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or GED certificate. Must have or be able to obtain (within 60 days of hire) and maintain a Class "B" CDL with School Bus, Passenger and Airbrake endorsements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
1. Ability to demonstrate qualities aligned to our core values of Character, Communication, Collaboration and Continuous Improvement.
2. Computer experience to include e-mail and Microsoft suite.
3. Knowledge of the roads and routes within the city of Rockford.
4. Proficient in Spanish (dependent upon department need)
WORK CALENDAR: 12-Months
WORKING CONDITIONS: Moderate-in-district travel as well as intermittent in-state and out-of-state travel. Intermittent prolonged and irregular hours of work.
