Salary: $16-$18

Position Summary

The Seasonal Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides person-centered support to individuals with developmental and/or intellectual disabilities during holiday breaks and summer periods. This role focuses on assisting individuals in daily living skills, recreational activities, community outings, and promoting independence in a safe and respectful environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct care and supervision to individuals according to their support plans.
  • Assist with daily living activities such as meal preparation, hygiene, mobility, and medication reminders (if applicable).
  • Engage individuals in meaningful recreational, social, and community activities during break periods.
  • Implement behavior support plans and encourage positive, respectful communication.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and supportive environment.
  • Document services, progress notes, and incident reports accurately and promptly.
  • Support individuals in achieving personal goals and fostering independence.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, team members, and families as needed.
  • Follow all agency policies, safety procedures, and state regulations.

Qualifications

  • Minimum age 18 (or as required by state).
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities preferred
  • Ability to work flexible hours during holiday breaks and summer months.
  • Strong communication, patience, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to lift and assist individuals as needed.
  • Valid drivers license and reliable transportation.
  • CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain.

Work Environment

  • May involve direct care, including physical assistance.
  • Work may take place in residential settings, day programs, or community locations.
  • Seasonal schedule; hours vary based on organizational needs.
