CT Tech Department Overview

Certifications Required :

BLS (AHA)

ARRT (CT)

North Dakota State License

Clinical Involvement :

No clinical involvement required

Required Experience & Skills :

Minimum 2 years of experience

Must be competent in diagnostic imaging

CTA experience is required

Previous travel experience preferred but not required

Cross-Training & Floating :

Will be cross-trained into Radiology or MRI

1 CT

1 X-ray room

1 Nuclear Medicine camera

1 Portable X-ray

1 C-arm

Common Imaging / Studies Performed :

CT / CTA : head, neck, upper / lower extremities, abdomen, pelvis, spine (cervical / lumbar), maxillofacial / sinus

Diagnostic imaging

Average Patient Volume :

Day Shift : 5–30 patients / day

Night Shift : 2–12 patients / day

Staffing & Scheduling

Supervision :

No Radiology Supervisor or Lead Tech on each shift

No RRAs used

No in-house Radiologist

Shifts & Scheduling :

8s, 10s, 12s with rotating call

Block scheduling available with team input

Weekend & Holiday Requirements :

Work every third weekend with rotating call

Holiday work and on-call rotation required

Call Details :

Rotating call nights / weekends / holidays

Call hours : 0001–0600 (department staffed until midnight)

Call response time : 20 minutes

Orientation & Dress Code

Orientation :

1–2 department-specific shifts

Scrub Color / Dress Code :

No specific color required

Scrubs are not provided

Additional Notes

This is a critical access hospital offering CT and X-ray services 24 / 7. Staff are not required to take call unless covering for illness or short staffing. Equipment is well-maintained, with plans to replace aging units. Technologists work autonomously and are supported by experienced staff.
