License : ARRT (R) - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Certifications : BCLS - Basic Life Support Must-Have : Vascular procedures experience. Description : Responsible for completing angiography procedures, scrubbing, setting techniques, and taking images. Maintains up-to-date licensure and certifications required for the position. Provides procedural assistance as a circulating tech, scrub tech, or monitoring tech according to lab policies and procedures. Understands and operates IR equipment and related information systems appropriately to ensure quality images are produced. Ensures proper patient identification and order verification, and prepares patients for the exam. Adheres to radiation safety guidelines and maintains a safe working environment for patients and staff. Develops specific knowledge about invasive, diagnostic, and interventional supplies, appropriate indications and applications, and proper use and deployment techniques. Follows appropriate protocol for medical necessity, coding and charging guidelines, obtaining necessary consents, maintaining applicable quality control programs, and reporting any equipment failures or problems. Provides appropriate patient education, ensures patient comfort, and addresses patient and / or family concerns. Keeps accurate records of patient information, procedures performed, and any adverse reactions or incidents. Coordinates patient care and communicates pertinent information to other patient care providers following the procedure. At the end of the procedure, sutures the sheath in place or removes the sheath and applies pressure to obtain hemostasis. Maintains work area and stocks needed supplies. Transports patients as needed. Assists with various procedures including SIRT mapping and treatments, embolizations, neph tube placements, biliary tube placements, and CT guided procedures. Performs neuro-IR stroke and diagnostic procedures. Recognizes emergent patient situations and responds appropriately. Ability to function independently and as part of a team. Ability to interact and communicate effectively with other caregivers and patients. Demonstrates understanding of anatomy, anatomic terminology, and positioning competency. Knowledge and adherence to infection control and sterile techniques are essential. Demonstrates knowledge in patient education and competency in patient care. Demonstrates competency in patient identification protocols and maintains accurate documentation. Demonstrates ability to provide life support care in emergency situations and proper use of body mechanics during procedures. Demonstrates experience in performing angiography procedures.
