Job Summary and Responsibilities

In keeping with the Dignity Health healthcare philosophy, the Ultrasound Technologist performs cardiovascular procedures at a technically proficient level. Positions and instructs the patient, operates ultrasound equipment and determines the technical factors for ultrasound procedures. Ensures correct marking / labeling of images, provide and confirm proper / adequate documentation of procedures to assist in diagnosis. Technically proficient in a variety of ultrasound procedures. Ability to train staff members to perform procedures requiring independent judgement. Position requires ingenuity and initiative for the diagnosis and therapy of disease.

Job Requirements

• Three (3) years experience performing Ultrasound procedures in an acute facility if not RDMS. Entry level for RDMS 0-3 years experience.
• Demonstrates knowledge in both general and cross-sectional anatomy and physiology.
• Must have working knowledge of diagnostic ultrasound imaging procedures.
• Must also know departmental protocols and procedures.
• Ability to work tactfully and effectively with fellow staff members, physicians and the patient population.
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Self-motivated and able to achieve results through good organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and be a functional team member in a team-oriented environment.
• Current RDMS or RDMS eligible, ECE to maintain certification, current BLS CPR card.
