As a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA or RMA), you will support the healthcare provider by preparing patients for exams, performing clinical tasks within your scope of practice, and ensuring a smooth and efficient patient experience. This role is vital to the daily operations of our medical center and to the quality of care we provide.
Key Responsibilities :
- Prepare patients for exams and procedures
- Take vital signs, perform routine screenings, and document medical histories in the EMR
- Assist providers with exams and minor procedures (e.g., pap smears, EKGs, suture removal, injections)
- Collect lab specimens and performs basic lab services
- Maintain exam room cleanliness and ensure supplies are stocked daily
- Escort patients within the facility and provide mobility assistance as needed
- Respond promptly to urgent symptoms (e.g., chest pain, shortness of breath)
- Manage EMR documentation accurately and efficiently
- Coordinate patient visits
- Support the team during staff shortages and rotate to other departments / sites when needed
- Follow HIPAA standards and infection control protocols
- Actively participate in daily meetings, evaluations, and required trainings
Education / Qualifications :
High school diploma or GED requiredGraduate of an accredited Medical Office Assistant program requiredLicenses / Certifications :
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) through AAMA, AMT, or CCTCurrent CPR and Basic Life Support (BLS) certificationSkills :
Prior experience in an outpatient clinic or urgent care setting preferredStrong patient care and clinical skillsExcellent communication and teamworkAbility to multitask and adapt to a fast-paced environmentBasic proficiency with EMR systems and office equipmentBilingual (English / Spanish) preferred but not requiredWork Environment & Physical Demands
