Job Description
This full-time Mechanical Engineer role is an on-site position based in Las Vegas, NV, focused on the design, development, and testing of mechanical systems for advanced electro-optical products. You will collaborate closely with Electrical, Optical, Firmware, and Manufacturing teams to translate innovative concepts into robust, production-ready designs. Responsibilities
- Design and develop mechanical components and systems for advanced electro-optical products, ensuring performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
- Perform structural, thermal, and dynamic analyses using finite element analysis (FEA) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) tools to validate and optimize designs.
- Create detailed 3D models and 2D engineering drawings using SolidWorks and AutoCAD, adhering to industry standards and internal design practices.
- Support system integration and testing of mechanical and electro-optical assemblies, working closely with cross-functional engineering teams.
- Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to ensure designs are optimized for machining, additive manufacturing, and other production methods.
- Contribute to prototype builds, design reviews, and iterative development cycles, incorporating feedback and test data into continuous design improvements.
- Apply opto-mechanical design principles to support the integration of optical and mechanical components where required.
- Document design decisions, analysis results, and test outcomes to support traceability and future design enhancements.
Essential Skills
- Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, with at least 3 years of relevant experience.
- Strong experience with FEA, CFD, and simulation tools for mechanical analysis, with demonstrated capability at an 8/10 proficiency level.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks at a 7/10 level, including 3D modeling and preparation of detailed engineering drawings.
- At least 3 years of experience in thermal design and thermal analysis for mechanical systems.
- At least 3 years of experience in dynamic analysis of mechanical structures and systems.
- Recent (within the past one to two years) experience designing for machining, additive manufacturing, or other production methods.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD at a 7/10 level for creating and modifying 2D drawings and layouts.
- Hands-on experience with mechanical design, including structural, thermal, and dynamic considerations.
- Experience using FEA tools for structural and dynamic analysis and CFD software for thermal and fluid flow analysis.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams including Electrical, Optical, Firmware, and Manufacturing engineering.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- . in Mechanical Engineering or a related field is a plus.
- Experience with electro-optical systems is highly desirable.
- Experience in military or aerospace research and development projects is a strong plus.
- Experience with opto-mechanical design and integration of optical components into mechanical assemblies is beneficial.
- Interest in working on innovative space-related technologies and products.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to apply simulation results to practical design decisions.
- Ability to participate in and contribute to design reviews, providing clear technical rationale and documentation.

This is a Permanent position based out of Las Vegas, NV.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $140000.00 - $180000.00/yr.
