    • Your Role as a Special Education Teacher

  • Engage & Educate  – Deliver lessons according to the classroom teacher’s plans.
  • Classroom Management  – Implement effective behavioral systems and trauma-informed care strategies.
  • Student Support  – Provide accommodations for students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Collaboration  – Work closely with paraprofessionals and school staff to create a structured, safe learning environment.
  • Crisis Management  – Respond to situations and assist students in maintaining a positive learning environment.

    • What We’re Looking For

  • Education  – Bachelor’s degree from accredited university or college
  • Licensure  - Holds or eligible for a Virginia teaching license, with an endorsement in appropriate subject area
  • Knowledge  - Demonstrated expertise of subject content, curriculum, and methodology of effective teaching
  • Experience  – Prior experience in education or working with students (preferred, not required).
  • Adaptability  – Ability to work with different classrooms, grade levels, and student needs.
  • Technology Skills  – Comfortable with instructional technology.
  • Certifications (Upon Hire)  – CPR, First Aid, Crisis Management, and a driver’s license with a good record.
