Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift ICU position in a high acuity unit requiring ACLS, BLS, and an active IL RN license.
Responsibilities
Work in an 8-bed high acuity intensive care unit (ICU) within an acute care hospital settingPatient population includes respiratory failure, post-surgical, wound care, IV antibiotics, post-stroke (CVA), post-trauma, and cardiac patientsNurse to patient ratio is typically 1 : 2-3Care for sedated, ventilated patients including titration of vasopressors, pain control and sedation dripsPerform and manage PEG tube feedings, CVC / PICC / Midline usage and care, and care for tracheostomy patientsCommon titratable drips include Precedex, Propofol, Fentanyl, Versed, Lasix, Insulin, Amiodarone, Nitro, Levophed, Dopamine, and CardizemAll beds are hard-wired to Phillips telemetry monitors, centrally monitored by in-unit telemetry techsEpic charting system is usedNight shifts are 12 hours (7p–7a) with rotating weekends and holidaysICU RNs may float to the Medical / Surgical unitRNs provide primary care in the ICU as there are no CNAs or patient care techs assignedHouse Supervisor is available 24 / 7 and RT is in-house at all timesTele-health MD support available after hoursScrubs are required; any color is permitted and only approved t-shirts may be wornIncludes classroom orientation and two unit-based shifts with a preceptorHoliday coverage required as part of rotationNo current call or standby requirements, but may be subject to changeNo COVID-19 vaccine requirement for employmentLocal candidates living within 50 miles are eligible for local ratesRequirements
Active IL RN license required at the time of considerationCurrent BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA) requiredMinimum of 1 year ICU RN experience requiredExperience with ventilators, tracheostomy, sedated patients, and titrating drips requiredExperience with Epic EMR is preferredMust be able to perform all required physical duties associated with ICU careBenefits
