Role Overview
The Engineering Manager will lead the team responsible for a widely adopted open-source framework and orchestration layer used to build production-grade LLM applications. This role blends deep technical leadership with strong open-source community stewardship. You will guide a team of Python and TypeScript engineers, define the technical vision and roadmap, and ensure the framework remains fast, stable, and highly developer-friendly. You’ll shape core architecture and APIs, uphold a high bar for code quality and developer experience, and collaborate closely with product, design, documentation, and developer relations teams. A core part of the role includes engaging with the global open-source community—reviewing contributions, responding to feedback, and fostering an ecosystem of active maintainers. The ideal candidate has experience leading developer-focused open-source projects, understands how to balance rapid iteration with ecosystem stability, and is comfortable being a public-facing technical leader.
What You’ll Do
Build, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of engineers, fostering collaboration, ownership, and accountability.
Strengthen the organization’s engineering culture through mentorship, high-quality code, and technical excellence.
Shape the technical direction and ensure a delightful developer experience across our core frameworks and orchestration tools.
Partner with product, design, documentation, and developer relations to set priorities, shape the roadmap, and define success criteria.
Engage directly with the open source community, review contributions, respond to feedback, and cultivate new maintainers.
Lead by example in writing clean, maintainable, and well-tested code in Python and TypeScript when needed.
Collaborate closely with platform and tooling teams to ensure a cohesive developer experience across the broader ecosystem.
Champion developer experience and documentation quality, maintaining a high bar for usability and clarity.
Who You Are
Experience managing or tech‑leading teams delivering complex, developer‑focused open source projects.
Strong technical background in Python and TypeScript, with deep understanding of software architecture, API design, and developer tooling.
Proven ability to balance fast iteration with ecosystem stability and backward compatibility.
Hands‑on experience building or maintaining open source frameworks or SDKs used by external developers.
Excellent communication skill comfortable engaging in public forums, GitHub discussions, and with community contributors.
Bias towards shipping quickly and learning from community and customers.
Bonus : Experience building AI / LLM frameworks, developer tools, or orchestration platforms.
Bonus : Background in developer relations or community engagement.
