How You'll Contribute:
As Assistant Vice President, Pricing Actuary, you will lead the development, pricing, and ongoing profitability management of EquiTrust's annuity and life insurance products. You will manage and mentor actuarial professionals while partnering closely with Product Management, IT, Marketing, Compliance, Operations, Finance, and Corporate Actuarial teams to bring profitable, competitive products to market.
What You'll Do:
- Lead and develop a team of actuarial professionals, including hiring, performance management, workload allocation, engagement, and talent development
- Design and price profitable, competitive annuity and life insurance products
- Conduct competitive studies and participate in industry surveys to inform product strategy
- Develop and maintain pricing models using current actuarial software and methodologies
- Establish pricing assumptions, conduct profit testing, and recommend credited rates, caps, and participation rates
- Manage in-force profitability through liability review and renewal rate setting
- Oversee implementation of new products in partnership with IT, Marketing, Compliance, and Operations
- Support regulatory compliance through form, rate, and value filings with state insurance departments
- Contribute to agent, consumer, and sales materials in support of marketing and distribution efforts
- Ensure timely and accurate actuarial information is provided to corporate actuarial, accounting, and finance teams

What You'll Bring: Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Finance, Statistics, Accounting, Computer Science, Quantitative Mathematics, or a related field
Experience:
- Minimum 10 years of actuarial experience with annuities and life insurance required
- Minimum 3 years of actuarial management experience required
- Product development and pricing experience strongly preferred
- Product management experience preferred
- FSA or ASA designation required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong expertise in actuarial mathematics, probability, statistics, and financial principles
- Working knowledge of insurance laws and regulations
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and actuarial modeling tools
- High level of professionalism and interpersonal effectiveness
Physical Requirements: - Primarily sedentary work with extended periods of sitting
- Frequent use of computers and fine motor skills
- Ability to communicate effectively (hearing, speaking, seeing)
- Infrequent lifting of up to 20 lbs

- Travel Requirements: Occasional travel (approximately 5-10% of the time)
