Primary Function
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Director of Philanthropy will be responsible for oversight of all development activities with the goal of increasing visibility of and financial support for the organization and its programmatic work.. The Director will work closely with the CEO and Board of Directors to inform them about philanthropic revenue trends, plan and execute fundraising strategies, and monitor progress toward goals.
The Director supports the Chief Executive Officer in positioning the board to cultivate and solicit major gifts and grants from individuals, corporations, foundations, government agencies and others, and is responsible for providing leadership and direction to staff, as needed, in their role of supporting the resource development and marketing efforts.
Essential Job Responsibilities :
Donor Cultivation, Solicitation, and Stewardship
Identifies, cultivates, and solicits major gift prospects, developing tailored approaches that resonate with each donor's interests and charitable goals.Facilitates donor visits, prepares proposals, and delivers presentations to secure commitments.Expands the fundraising program by proactively implementing innovative research tools and strategies to identify new donors and prospects.Tracks and reports relationship management activity using the constituent relationship management system, including identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of prospective and current major gift donors.Develops and stewards relationships with high-value donors to ensure ongoing support, recognition, and involvement in the planned giving program.Partnership
Works in partnership with the Chief Executive Officer and Board of Directors in the effective operation of all fund development activities required to support Club operations and delivery of programs within the community.Encourage and support board committees responsible for planning and implementing development activities.Support and promote sponsorship programs to support key events and initiatives and partner with agency leadership and board members to engage and solicit past and prospective sponsorship partners.Skills / Knowledge Required :
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.A minimum of 3 years work experience in non-profit agency operations, specifically in the fund-raising field, sales / marketing or equivalent experience.Technology savvy; Microsoft office suite experience, Salesforce, etc.Demonstrated and relevant fundraising experience with advanced understanding of prospect qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.Record of leadership and accomplishment in fundraising, including pipeline development, acquisition planning, and cross-functional revenue generation.Knowledge of and passion for the mission, objectives, programs, and of the principles and practices of non-profit organizations; youth development services preferred.Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, and identify their needs and how the department supports cross functional initiatives.Successful track record of managing revenue budgets and closing 5-6 figure individual or corporate gifts.A talent for big-picture thinking and managing all the moving parts of a cross-functional marketing, communications, and development team at a growing organization.Proven experience building strategic fundraising plans for growth. Track record of taking relationships through the full cycle from prospect to successful proposal.Solid understanding of how to forecast and track development revenue, restricted gifts, and experience in private and public grants management.Additional Requirements
Will require the use of personal vehicle for club business and must carry auto liability insurance with a minimum of $300,000 coverage naming Alameda Boys & Girls Club as additional insured.Must qualify as a CA Good Driver as defined in the CA insurance code and / or meet driver eligibility criteria of the insurance carrier.Ability to successful pass a Department of Justice fingerprint and background clearance.
