Cardiac Stepdown RN Job Details

Job Title : Cardiac Stepdown Registered Nurse (RN) – Travel Assignment

Location : Amarillo, TX 79106 (Texas Panhandle)

Assignment Type : Travel Nursing, On-Site

Start Date : November 10, 2025

End Date : February 9, 2026

Contract Duration : 13 weeks

Estimated Weekly Pay : $1620 - $1660

Shift : 12-hour nights (7 : 00 PM - 7 : 30 AM), 3 shifts per week

Hours per Week : 36

Openings : 3 Cardiac Stepdown RN positions available

Unit : Intermediate Care (Med / Surg and Cardiac Stepdown patients)

Unit Size : 24 beds, average daily census 12-14

Nurse-to-Patient Ratio : 1 : 4 to 1 : 6

Registered Nurse Qualifications

Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience in Cardiac Stepdown, Intermediate Care, PCU, or acute care nursing

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas or compact state (required for Texas nursing jobs)

Current certifications : ACLS, BLS, NIHSS

Recent Epic EMR experience (within last 6 months)

Proficient in telemetry, dysrhythmia interpretation, rapid response / code team participation, blood product administration, central and peripheral line care, cardiac drips (no titration), oxygen therapy, non-invasive airway management, and isolation precautions

Must reside at least 50 miles from Amarillo facility (no local candidates)

Willingness to float to units of equal or lower acuity as needed

Available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays if required

Previous charge nurse experience preferred

Travel nursing experience preferred but not required

Cardiac Stepdown RN Responsibilities

Deliver safe, compassionate, and effective nursing care to adult cardiac stepdown and intermediate care patients

Monitor, assess, and document patient conditions and progress using Epic EMR

Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including physical therapy, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and social services

Administer medications and manage cardiac drips (no titration)

Interpret and respond to cardiac telemetry and dysrhythmias

Participate in rapid response and code blue situations

Educate and support patients and their families throughout the care process

Float to similar nursing units as required by facility needs
