Role Summary : Critical Care in Recovery
We are seeking a highly skilled and adaptable PACU Registered Nurse to cover a critical staffing need at All Saints Hospital in Racine, Wisconsin. This role involves providing specialized, critical-level care to immediate post-operative and post-procedure patients as they emerge from anesthesia. The PACU RN is responsible for intensive monitoring, pain management, and stabilization across various surgical specialties.

This assignment requires a high degree of flexibility and commitment to the variable schedule and on-call rotation.
Schedule & Shift Pattern
Primary Shift Times : Primarily 10-hour shifts, which may be 05 : 30 - 16 : 00 or 07 : 30 - 18 : 00 .Shift Variability : Start times are variable with surgical volume and may include a 10 : 00 start time on occasion.On-Call Required : Yes .Weekday Call : 1 night per week, covering 20 : 00 - 07 : 30 .
Weekend Call : Rotating schedule, typically Every 4th - 5th weekend .Saturday : 06 : 30 - 06 : 30 (24-hour shift)
Sunday : 19 : 00 - 06 : 30Holidays : As needed, rotating with the regular staff.Required Skills and Certifications
Experience : Minimum one (1) year of recent PACU or Pre-op / PACU experience.Required Certifications : BLS, ACLS, and PALS (Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, and Pediatric Advanced Life Support).Charting System : Experience with EPIC is required.Core PACU Responsibilities
Patient Stabilization : Manage immediate post-operative patients recovering from general, regional, and local anesthesia, maintaining a patent airway and hemodynamic stability.Assessment & Monitoring : Perform frequent, rapid, and thorough assessments of patients' respiratory, cardiac, neurological, and pain status.Intervention : Implement emergent interventions promptly, including managing potential complications like hypoxemia, hemorrhage, hypotension, and malignant hyperthermia.Pain Management : Administer IV fluids, blood products, and analgesic medications (including titration) according to physician orders and established protocols.Discharge : Determine patient readiness for discharge to the next phase of care (Phase II recovery, inpatient unit, or home) using approved criteria.Floating Requirement : Must be willing to float onsite within skill set (e.g., Pre-op, possibly other critical care units if applicable) or to other Ascension sites within a 40-mile radius if needed.JOB ID : (ASC-40134)
